Police have arrested SM Shahinuzzaman Shahin, a member of the Jamalpur District unit of Awami League, from Uttara in the capital.
He was detained Sunday night from an office in Sector 14 of Uttara.
Khalid Monsur, officer‑in‑charge of Uttara West Police Station, confirmed the arrest.
He said legal proceedings against Shahinuzzaman are underway.
The arrestee contested the 12th national election in 2024 as an independent candidate from Jamalpur‑2 (Islampur) constituency, running with the “Scissors” symbol.
