Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim has said that the people of Bangladesh have nothing new to gain from the BNP and Jamaat, and urged voters to support his party candidates in the upcoming national election.
Speaking at an election rally in Laksam on Monday, Rezaul Karim, widely known as Charmonai Pir, criticised the past governance of the BNP and the long-standing alliance between BNP and Jamaat.
“We have witnessed BNP rule several times. During their tenure, they became champions of corruption,” he said. “The coalition led by Jamaat also shared power with BNP for many years. They have stated that they will not govern based on Shariah, but according to conventional rules. Therefore, there is nothing new to gain from them.”
He added that in Bangladesh’s political system, changes in power often result in one group fleeing the country, while those facing capital punishment charges are later acquitted. “In such power shifts, the accused often get relief,” he said.
Rezaul Karim called on voters to cast their votes for Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidates under the ‘hand fan’ symbol in the upcoming national election to bring about political reform.
The rally was attended by Selim Mahmud, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s nominated candidate for Cumilla-9 (Laksam-Manoharganj), along with other party leaders and local activists.
