With New Zealand wrapping up their limited-overs tour of Bangladesh, attention now shifts quickly to red-ball cricket as Pakistan arrive for a two-match Test series. The visitors will land in Dhaka in two separate groups, with Shan Masood leading the side.
The first batch of players will arrive in Bangladesh at 4 am on Sunday morning. The remaining members of the squad will join after the Pakistan Super League final on May 3.
The first Test will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from May 8 to 12, while the second Test will take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from May 16 to 20. Both matches are part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle. Bangladesh began their new cycle earlier in June with a two-Test series in Sri Lanka.
This series also marks Bangladesh’s return to red-ball cricket. The last time they played Test cricket was in November 2025 against Ireland in a two-match series under Najmul Hossain Shanto’s leadership.
Pakistan, meanwhile, have toured Bangladesh twice in recent times. They played a three-match T20I series in July last year, followed by a three-match ODI series in March this year. This tour, however, will see them return for the longer format challenge. The last Test series between the two sides in Bangladesh was in 2021.
For the opening Test, Bangladesh have called up two new faces; Tanzid Hasan Tamim and domestic regular Amite Hasan.
So far, the two teams have met in 15 Tests. Bangladesh have won two, Pakistan have won 12, and one match ended in a draw.
