Bangladesh Ansar won the women’s title at the National Rugby Sevens Championship 2026 with a big 24-0 victory over Dhaka District Sports Association in the final.
The final showed the clear strength of the service teams once again. Rugby is a major sport in many countries, but in Bangladesh, it is still growing. Even so, the Bangladesh Rugby Federation continues to hold national competitions every year.
The men’s final was also one-sided. Bangladesh Army beat Satkhira District Sports Association 34-0 to lift the title.
Like many sports in Bangladesh outside football and cricket, rugby depends a lot on the service teams. Many top players play for these organisations through jobs and contracts. That often creates a big gap when they face district teams.
Obaidur Rahman of Bangladesh Army was named the best player in the men’s category. Mohsina Lata of Bangladesh Ansar won the best player award in the women’s category.
Crystal Insurance sponsored the tournament. Chairman Abdullah Al Mahmud joined the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed over the prizes. Federation officials were also present at the event.
