Chennai Super Kings kept their playoff hopes alive with a strong eight-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in a big Indian Premier League clash on Saturday.

CSK produced a complete team performance at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Their bowlers set up the win before the batters finished the job with confidence.

After losing the toss, Mumbai Indians managed only 159 for seven. Naman Dhir fought hard with 57 off 37 balls, but the rest of the batting unit failed to build enough pressure. Captain Hardik Pandya struggled badly for his 18 off 23 balls as CSK’s bowlers kept things tight.

Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad led the attack with two wickets for 26 runs in four overs. Anshul Kamboj also impressed with three wickets for 32 runs. CSK kept taking key wickets and never allowed Mumbai to break free.

Ryan Rickelton gave Mumbai some early momentum with aggressive hitting, but once CSK struck in the middle overs, the innings slowed down badly. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma got starts but could not turn them into big scores.

Chasing 160, CSK came out with clear intent. Jasprit Bumrah removed Sanju Samson early, but that was the only major success for Mumbai.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front with an unbeaten 67 off 48 balls. Kartik Sharma supported him brilliantly with 54 not out from 40 balls. Urvil Patel also added a quick 24 from just 12 deliveries.

Gaikwad and Sharma controlled the chase calmly and took CSK home with ease.

With this vital win, Chennai strengthened their push for the playoffs, while Mumbai’s campaign now hangs in the balance.
