The Padma Bridge and Jamuna Bridge experienced a significant surge in traffic between 21 May and 30 May, collecting more than Tk63 crore in tolls during Eid-ul-Adha period.
According to data from Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA), a total of 318,515 vehicles crossed Padma Bridge during this 10-day window, generating Tk36,11,95,900 in toll revenue.
Simultaneously, Jamuna Bridge recorded the crossing of 361,482 vehicles, with toll collections amounting to Tk27,68,54,900.
Despite the higher volume of traffic compared to previous years, the BBA reported that no major accidents or significant traffic congestion were observed.
This success reflects the enhanced capacity and efficiency of the country’s road infrastructure management.
In a statement, Mohammad Abdur Rouf, an official of Bridges Division and Executive Director, attributed the achievement to constant supervision and the prime minister’s commitment to ensuring safe travel for the public.
He noted that Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam and State Minister Md Razib Ahsan monitored the situation around the clock.
The BBA highlighted that this achievement was made possible through the dedicated efforts of various stakeholders, including BBA officers, the local administration, Police, Bangladesh Army, and the Health Services Division.
The cooperation of the transport owners’ association, cattle-laden truck operators, transport workers, and local journalists played a vital role.
