Chief Coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon Zonayed Saki has said that the people of Bancharampur want a fair and acceptable election, and they will not tolerate money games and administrative manipulation.
Zonayed Saki made the remark at a press conference organised in Bancharampur Upazila, part of the Brahmanbaria-6 constituency, on Monday while campaigning in the area for the “Mathal” (farmer’s conical hat) symbol.
He further said, “We, including BNP, who were part of the July uprising, want to carry on working after the election. We see this election as a continuation of that movement.”
Zonayed Saki added, “We see that some sections within the government are leaning towards specific sides. The people of Bangladesh will not accept this. The people of Bangladesh will not accept any more rigging, mechanisms, or tactics to influence the election, nor will the people of Bancharampur.”
He said, “We want a fair and acceptable election. We believe that if there is a fair and acceptable election, the people of Bancharampur will choose ‘Mathal’ to rebuild the future of Bangladesh.”
“The people of Bangladesh are now at a crossroads. The future state and how we build it depend on the upcoming election. During the fascist era, people’s rights were snatched away. Looting, corruption, enforced disappearances, and killings were commonplace, depriving people of their rights. Through the sacrifices of the thousands martyred during July, we have created the National Charter. Now is the time to create a new political system.”
Present at the campaign were Bancharampur’s former MP and a member of the BNP’s National Executive Committee, MA Khaleque, Ganosamhati Andolon’s Bancharampur upazila coordinator Shameem Shibli, Central Committee member Arifur Rahman Miraj, Central Advisory Committee member Khaled Hossain, Bangladesh Jubo Federation convener Golam Mostafa and secretary Zahid Shujon, Bancharampur Upazila BNP President Mehedi Hasan Palash and General Secretary AKM Musa, along with leaders and activists of BNP and Ganosamhati Andolon.
On Tuesday, Zonayed Saki is expected to take his campaign into various locations within Daryadaulat Union in Bancharampur.
