A man was detained on Saturday as he went to pay tribute to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital, police said.
The detainee has been identified as Arnab Das. Police said he is from Tangail and an activist of the Jubo League, an associated organisation of the Awami League whose activities are currently banned.
Law enforcers remained on alert at the site of Sheikh Mujib’s demolished residence and its surrounding areas at Dhanmondi 32.
Muhammad Imdadul Islam, officer‑in‑charge of Dhanmondi Police Station, said that around 10am Arnab arrived at Dhanmondi 32 with flowers on the occasion of Sheikh Mujib’s death anniversary on 15 August (Saturday). He was detained and later taken to the police station.
