Law enforcement agencies have imposed strict security measures in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi 32 and surrounding areas centring 15 August.
Additional police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members have been deployed across the locality, with intensified searches underway to prevent disorder or untoward incidents.
Since Friday night, the presence of extra law enforcement personnel has been visible in Dhanmondi 32.
Checkpoints have been set up at key points, where suspicious individuals and vehicles are being searched. Officers are also stationed at intersections, monitoring pedestrian movement and activities.
The security has been reinforced as a precautionary measure to avert possible sabotage or unrest surrounding 15 August.
Dhanmondi Police Station Officer‑in‑charge Imdadul Islam confirmed the matter to TIMES of Bangladesh. He said, “The situation is under control. However, as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident, additional law enforcement members have been deployed.”
On 15 August 1975, at Dhanmondi 32 in Dhaka, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh, was callously murdered alongside his family in a violent coup led by misguided army officers.
