After a long and uncertain wait, Raihan Rafi’s suspense-driven web film ‘Omimangshito’ is finally set to premiere on OTT platform iScreen today, marking the end of nearly two years of delay caused by certification issues.
The film, which has drawn attention since the release of its trailer, centres on the mysterious murder of a journalist couple. Investigators searching for answers find themselves entangled in contradictions and missing evidence, as seemingly minor details and the actions of those around the victims complicate the case and deepen the sense of unease.
Although Omimangshito was completed some time ago and was initially slated for release in 2023, objections from the Film Certification Board halted its screening. Following the resumption of the board’s activities after the July political changes, the makers submitted a fresh appeal and the project was eventually cleared for release.
Imtiaz Borshon and Tanzika Amin lead the cast, with Shahidul Alam Sacchu, Manoj Pramanik and several other familiar faces appearing in key roles. While the film has sparked speculation about possible real-life inspirations, the makers have stopped short of confirming any direct link to a specific incident.
Speaking ahead of the premiere, director Raihan Rafi described the project as deeply personal and urged viewers to approach it with an open perspective. He said the story was not intended to depict a single case, but rather to echo the many unresolved investigations that continue to linger in Bangladesh.
