A planned regional meeting between Gulf states and Iran on the Strait of Hormuz has been postponed in the “interests of consensus”, Oman has announced.
An Iranian foreign ministry official said the meeting in Oman was postponed at the request of certain regional countries and through a joint decision by Tehran and Muscat, reports Al Jazeera.
Meanwhile, fighting has escalated across several fronts in Yemen as government forces launch air attacks on Houthi positions in an effort to retake al-Makha (Mocha).
The military action comes days after the Iran-aligned group seized the strategic port city, further tightening its grip on the vital Red Sea shipping lane.
