Police recovered the body of a nursing student from a hostel on Crescent Road in the capital’s Kalabagan area Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Pinki Biswas, 19, a first‑year student at Anwar Khan Modern Nursing Institute. She was daughter of Prafulla Biswas of Jambari village under Ujirpur Police Station in Barishal.
Kalabagan Police Station Sub‑inspector Liza Akter said officers broke open the door of a ground‑floor room in a five‑storey building in the area around 8:30am and found her hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Police said Pinki shared the room with two other students, but both were absent at their village homes on holiday when the incident occurred.
