Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has been shifted from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a cabin as his health improves, said Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, director of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), on Monday.
According to Brig Asaduzzaman, Nur’s condition is steadily improving, and he is expected to be discharged within a week.
“It will take about 4 to 6 weeks for the wounds on his body to fully heal. The fractured portion of his nose remains properly aligned, and it is expected to regain its normal shape,” he explained.
Nur has also started consuming regular meals as recommended by the doctors, he added.
Earlier, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain, Adviser to the Shipping Ministry, visited the hospital to check on Nur’s condition.
A six-member medical board is overseeing Nur’s treatment.
Nur was injured on Friday during a confrontation between his party’s supporters and Jatiya Party activists outside his office, which escalated when police and army personnel used batons to disperse the crowd.
