Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur is set to be moved from the intensive care unit (ICU) to a cabin at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his health continues to improve.

Director of DMCH Brigadier General Mohammad Asaduzzaman said that Nur’s condition is stable and improving steadily, with specialists from various departments closely monitoring his recovery.

“It will take around four to six weeks for the fractures in his nose and jaw to fully heal,” said Asaduzzaman. “The blood clots in his eye should clear within one to two weeks.”

Nur has been advised to resume normal food intake, although he still experiences pain while eating. “This discomfort is expected to subside gradually,” the DMCH director added.

He also mentioned that some residual blood from earlier nasal bleeding entered Nur’s respiratory tract and was coughed up twice on Sunday.

Previously, on Friday (August 30), Nur and several other leaders of the Gono Odhikar Parishad were severely injured in clashes with the Jatiya Party at around 9pm. Law enforcement forces were reported to have used batons, resulting in serious injuries.

Nur was later taken to Islami Bank Hospital and then transferred to the ICU at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
