BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the attack on the president of Gono Odhikar Parishad, Nurul Haque Nur, was carried out with the intention to kill.
He visited Nur, who was admitted to a cabin at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, on Tuesday afternoon. At that time, he inquired about his treatment and spoke with his family.
While leaving, Mirza Fakhrul told journalists that his condition is very critical, but has improved compared to before. He has injuries on his jaw and head. There is bleeding in the brain. However, after speaking with the doctors, it seems that there has been no negligence in his treatment here.
He said, “It is very clear that the attack on Nur was intended to kill him. If law enforcement agencies attack leaders in this manner even after a mass uprising, then one can imagine what they have done to ordinary people. I cannot accept this in any way. I believe a judicial investigation should be completed quickly and action taken against those responsible.”
The BNP secretary general also requested the government to arrange for Nur’s treatment abroad.
