BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the brutal attack was carried out on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur in a preplanned way to kill him.

The BNP leader made this allegation on Sunday while talking to journalists during his visit to Nur, who has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with fatal injuries.

“A brutal attack was carried out on Nur. It was preplanned and targeted, and their intention was to kill him.”

He also said that Nur so far survived 22 attacks in his political and student life.

“From Bogura to wherever he went, he has been a victim of the past fascist government. We strongly protest against the incident and demand a fair investigation.”

Referring to Friday’s attack, Rizvi said, “Nur didn’t engage in any violence there. Yet, he was attacked inside the office. The defeated force is trying to hit in different ways.”

“I don’t know whether Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader was involved in the incident, but today they are talking about politics in Bangladesh—what a surprise! This is the same man who, before the election, went to India and upon his return said nothing could be said without their permission.”

“How can such a person do politics in Bangladesh and talk about democracy? These people are peeking out after hiding deep underwater,” he poses a question.

When asked whether BNP agrees with Gono Odhikar Parishad’s demand to ban Jatiya Party, Rizvi replied, “That is a matter for the party to decide.”
