NRB Bank PLC, in collaboration with Visa, has launched an Insurance-Embedded Visa Prepaid Payroll Card, said to be the first of its kind in Bangladesh. The bank said in a press statement that the solution combines salary disbursement with built-in insurance benefits to offer a secure and digital payroll system.
The product was unveiled at a ceremony held at the bank’s Corporate Head Office in Dhaka by Managing Director and CEO of NRB Bank Tarek Reaz Khan and Country Manager of Visa Sabbir Ahmed. Senior officials of NRB Bank PLC, Visa representatives, and COO of Bimafy Arnab Paul was also present.
The payroll card enables employers to transfer salaries directly to prepaid cards, allowing employees to withdraw cash from ATMs, make POS purchases, conduct online transactions, and pay bills.
Tarek Reaz Khan said the initiative marks a milestone in innovation and banking inclusion, simplifying payroll management while improving convenience, safety, and accessibility for employees. The solution is expected to benefit large workforce sectors such as garments, manufacturing, retail, and services by reducing reliance on cash-based salary distribution.
