State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said non‑formal education is an effective medium for school dropouts.
He also said non‑formal education plays a vital role in bringing disadvantaged and dropout students back into mainstream education. He urged stakeholders to work collectively to expand and improve the quality of this sector.
He made the remarks on Tuesday morning while attending a views‑exchange meeting with officials of the Bureau of Non‑Formal Education at its conference room in Mohakhali, Dhaka.
He added the government’s election manifesto prioritises skill development as part of its education vision, which aligns with the bureau’s mission of transforming disadvantaged groups into skilled human resources and creating lifelong learning opportunities.
Bobby Hajjaj emphasised ensuring quality education alongside expanding skill‑based learning so students can establish themselves in future careers, while also calling for greater accountability and transparency in field‑level activities.
The meeting discussed ongoing programmes, challenges, and future plans of the bureau. Officials shared experiences, problems, and prospects, while the minister provided guidance.
Additional Secretary Mokhlesur Rahman and Bureau Director General Debabrata Chakraborty, along with other senior officials, were present.
