Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah believes that the environment of a national voting festival has been disrupted due to the killing of Osman Hadi and the attacks on media institutions.
However, he also expressed the resolve to move forward by transforming this grief into strength.
Election Commissioner Sanaullah made these remarks in response to journalists’ questions during a briefing at the EC headquarters in Agargaon after a meeting with law enforcement agencies on Sunday.
When asked if a festive electoral environment had been established in the country, Sanaullah said, “If there’s an accident during a big festival, doesn’t it disrupt the festive mood? The same has happened in our case with the killing of martyr Hadi. Now we must move forward by turning this grief into strength. Those who want to spoil our electoral environment will fail, and the festive environment will return again.”
EC Sanaullah further added, “We will not show mercy towards those who want to cause violence, those who want to kill our brothers and sisters, those who want to create chaos during the election. Law enforcement agencies will be instructed on this matter. Those who have committed misdeeds by exploiting people’s emotions will get their due.”
Informing that instructions have been given to prevent matters that damage the electoral environment, the commissioner said, “From now on, joint forces will start operations at the field level. Recovery of illegal arms and arrests will begin. Additionally, police are ensuring the security of political candidates,”
