Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained a Nigerian national while he was allegedly attempting to cross the border illegally in Feni’s Parshuram.
The detainee has been identified as Austin, 39. BGB Battalion‑4 in Feni confirmed the detention in a press release Monday night.
Austin was apprehended during a drive by personnel from the Nizkalikapur Border Outpost (BOP) following a tip‑off.
During initial questioning, he said he had arrived in Bangladesh in March and travelled from Dhaka to Parshuram intending to enter India. The information was later verified through local sources, according to BGB.
Lieutenant Colonel MM Zillur Rahman, commander of BGB Battalion‑4, said the force remains on high alert to prevent illegal crossings and continues regular operations and intelligence activities to ensure border security, achieve zero border killings, and curb smuggling of drugs and other goods.
BGB said the process of handing Austin over to Parshuram Police Station is underway.
