The government on Thursday formed a five-member committee to select the head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU). The committee will be presided over by Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur.

The committee members include Finance Ministry’s Financial Institutions Division Secretary Nazma Mobarek, Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs’ Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division’s Additional Secretary for Drafting Mohammad Mohiuddin, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh President NKA Mobin, and Dhaka University Computer Science and Engineering Professor Mosaddek Hossain Kamal.

BFIU, an independent financial intelligence agency, operates under the control of a national coordination committee led by the finance minister or finance adviser. However, Bangladesh Bank supports it by providing manpower and logistics.
