Netflix has addressed recent rumours suggesting tension with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, clarifying that their partnership remains strong.
During the Next on Netflix event on March 18, Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria urged the public not to believe unverified reports.
Bajaria explained that while Netflix recently stepped back from investing in Markle’s lifestyle brand As Ever, this was part of routine business and not indicative of a falling out. She confirmed that the streaming giant continues to collaborate with the couple on film and television projects, including movies and documentaries currently in development.
The 2022 docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan’ remains the highest-debuting documentary on the platform, while Meghan’s show ‘With Love, Meghan’ ran for two seasons before transitioning to one-off episodes. A Netflix spokesperson called claims of a strained partnership “absolutely inaccurate,” a sentiment echoed by the couple’s attorney, Michael J. Kump, who described the allegations as “blatantly false.”
Netflix highlighted that its involvement with ‘As Ever’ was always intended as a launch partnership, allowing the brand to now grow independently under Meghan’s guidance.
The Sussexes expressed gratitude for Netflix’s support since 2020 and said they are excited to continue expanding As Ever in the coming year.
