The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations under the Chattogram Education Board resumed Monday after being suspended for 11 days due to flooding and adverse weather.
Nearly 100,000 candidates returned to 114 centres under the board, with exams starting at 10am.
Tests across the country’s nine other boards, as well as the Madrasah and Technical Education Boards, continued as scheduled.
The government had postponed the remaining exams under the Chattogram board on 16 July citing flooding, disrupted road communications, and concerns over students’ wellbeing.
Alim exams under the Madrasah Board and several Technical Board courses were also suspended.
Following an improvement in the flood situation, the Ministry of Education approved to resume the HSC exams from 27 July (Monday). Students will now sit for their remaining papers as per the regular schedule, while a revised timetable for postponed subjects will be issued later.
This year, 1,270,583 students are registered for the HSC and equivalent examinations nationwide. Of them, 99,688 are appearing under the Chattogram board.
Exams are being held at 2,697 centres across 9,439 institutions.
