Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has announced that his party will field candidates in all 300 constituencies under the “Shapla Koli” (Water Lily Bud) symbol, without forming any alliance.
He said, “We are preparing for the 13th parliamentary polls. Inshallah, we will nominate candidates in all 300 constituencies under the Shapla Koli symbol.”
Nahid further mentioned that the party’s list of candidates will be finalised within this month.
He made the announcement in a video message to party leaders and activists, posted on the party’s official page on Wednesday night.
Nahid said, “In June this year, we submitted all necessary documents to the Election Commission for registration. However, the Commission delayed approving our expected symbol ‘Shapla.’ For several months, we had to go through a quiet struggle with the Election Commission.
“At last, the NCP has received the Shapla Koli symbol. During this entire time, we have continued to work beside the people. We have built nationwide public opinion in favor of reforms. We have consistently spoken out for justice.”
