A leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) died in a motorcycle accident on the Muradpur–Lalkhan Bazar flyover in Chattogram early Wednesday.
The crash occurred around 1am near the GEC intersection.
Fayaz Tajrian, 26, was a member of the convening committee of NCP’s Chattogram city unit and part of the party’s public relations team. He lived in the city’s Oxygen area. His father, Kamal Uddin, is involved in local BNP politics, according to locals.
Police and NCP leaders said the accident happened when Tajrian’s motorcycle struck the rear of a parked covered van.
Chawk Bazar police rescued him from the scene and took him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, said Chattogram NCP member secretary Arif Moinuddin.
Md Nur Hossain Mamun, officer‑in‑charge of Chawk Bazar Police Station, said stormy weather and darkness may have prevented Tajrian from seeing the vehicle.
Earlier Tuesday evening, Tajrian had joined an NCP rally outside Chattogram Press Club before heading home on his motorcycle. Locals identified him by the “NCP Chattogram City” sticker on the bike and alerted party leaders via social media.
His namaz‑e‑janaza will be held Wednesday morning at Chattogram Cantonment Public School ground, followed by burial at his family home in Hathazari later in the day.
