Bangladesh Navy recovered a large quantity of yaba, foreign firearms and ammunition during a special drive in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The navy has been conducting regular operations in its areas of responsibility to curb drugs, recover illegal arms and control crime and militancy.
As part of this effort, a special operation was carried out on Sunday night by a Bangladesh Navy contingent in Teknaf.
Acting on intelligence inputs, two organised operational teams, including specialised Special Warfare Diving and Salvage (SWADS) units of the Bangladesh Navy, conducted the drive in the Phuler Deil area of Hnila union in Teknaf upazila.
During the operation, the teams searched the house of Md Delowar Hossain, an associate of warrant-listed accused Bhuttu Saiful. They recovered two G3 rifles, one MA1 rifle, eight magazines, 190 rounds of live ammunition and 10 empty cartridges.
They also seized 28,000 pieces of yaba that had been stored for trafficking.
Later, the recovered arms, ammunition and seized drugs were handed over to the concerned authorities.
The Bangladesh Navy said its anti-drug drives, anti-crime operations and arms recovery efforts will continue in Teknaf and other assigned areas.
It also said the navy remains committed to strengthening surveillance and ensuring national security.
