Milestone teacher killed in Khilgaon bus accident

A 31-year-old teacher, Tasfia Ahmed Tisha, was killed after being run over by a bus in the Meradia area of Dhaka’s Khilgaon on Wednesday.

The deceased was a teacher at Milestone School and College in Aftabnagar. She hailed from Chandpur Sadar Upazila and was currently residing in the Meradia Nayapara area. Her husband is an expatriate, and she had no children.

According to Khilgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Onoy Chandra Paul, the accident occurred at around 5:45pm on the main road in front of Meradia Basumati Hospital while Tisha was returning home.

A bus belonging to “Romjan Paribahan” hit her, causing her to fall onto the road, where she was crushed under the wheels of another bus operated by “Tisa Paribahan.”

Pedestrians rescued her in a critical condition and admitted her to Farazy Hospital. Upon receiving the news, her family members transferred her later at night to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where attending doctors declared her dead following an examination.

Police seized both buses immediately after the incident and detained the driver of one bus and the helper of the other.

SI Onoy Chandra Paul stated that it is not yet known whether the teacher was walking or riding a motorcycle at the time of the incident, as no motorcycle was found at the scene. A detailed investigation is currently underway.

Police sources say the driver and helper of the bus involved in this accident have been arrested.
