Bangladesh Navy seized 3,000 litres of illegally stockpiled diesel and arrested one person in a joint drive in Hatiya, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The operation was carried out late Friday night in the Kalamchar area near Swich Ghat under Jahajmara union, in coordination with Hatiya Police Station, acting on a tip-off.
Law enforcers recovered 15 barrels containing the diesel from a site beside Ma-Babar Doa Borof Kol, officials said.
Authorities detained Md Mahmududdin, 45, on allegations of hoarding fuel to create artificial scarcity and earn higher profits.
The seized diesel and the detainee were handed over to Hatiya Police Station for further legal action.
Officials said the Bangladesh Navy is continuing regular operations to curb illegal fuel hoarding and smuggling, maintaining a zero-tolerance stance amid global energy concerns.
