Iran’s key nuclear enrichment site in Natanz was hit once more on Saturday, intensifying regional tensions amid ongoing hostilities involving Israel and its allies.

The Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran confirmed that the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan enrichment facility was attacked, describing the strike as part of “criminal attacks” carried out by the United States and Israel, reports from Al Jazeera.

Iranian officials condemned the action, stating it violated international obligations, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and established nuclear safety protocols.

The Natanz facility, located approximately 220 kilometres southeast of Tehran, has been targeted several times in recent years. Satellite imagery from the June 2025 12-day Iran-Israel conflict revealed significant structural damage, and the site was later struck again by US forces.

The latest attack comes amid escalating hostilities in the region. Israel reported fresh missile strikes by Iran early Saturday, while Saudi Arabia said its air defenses intercepted 20 drones over its Eastern Region within a few hours, a vital area for the kingdom’s oil infrastructure.

The recurring strikes highlight the fragility of the situation, with little indication that tensions between Iran, Israel, and their regional allies are easing.
