Rangpur Division, the defending champions, stormed into the NCL T20 final after edging past Chattogram Division by four wickets in a last-ball thriller at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on 10 October. Nasir Hossain led from the top with a composed half-century, while captain Akbar Ali’s late burst sealed Rangpur’s passage to another final.
Batting first in the day-night contest, Chattogram posted a competitive 167 for 3 from their 20 overs. Sadikur Rahman anchored the innings with an unbeaten 58 off 48 balls, striking three boundaries and a six. Skipper Yasir Ali Chowdhury provided the late fireworks with a blistering 53 not out from 27 balls, hammering five fours and two sixes. Mahidul Islam Ankon added a steady 28 off 27 deliveries.
In reply, Rangpur opened with Nasir Hossain and Zahid Javed. Zahid made 35 off 28 balls before falling, but Nasir held firm to guide the chase with a brilliant 54 from 41 balls, decorated with four fours and three sixes. Despite losing partners at regular intervals, his calm approach kept Rangpur on course.
After Nasir’s departure, skipper Akbar Ali took charge in the middle. His explosive 40 off just 21 balls — featuring one four and three sixes, brought Rangpur to the brink of victory. Though a few quick wickets late on added tension, Rangpur held their nerve and crossed the line off the very last delivery, confirming a place in yet another NCL T20 final where they will face Khulna Division.
