The autopsy of content creator Rakibul Islam Rakib, who was killed after being shot and stabbed near the Central Shaheed Minar, has been completed.

On Monday afternoon, doctors from the Forensic Medicine Department conducted the autopsy at the Dhaka Medical College morgue. The body was subsequently handed over to the family.

Meanwhile, at the morgue, the victim’s wife, Habiba Akhtar, said they reside in Chankharpul. On Sunday, after Iftar, Rakib’s elder brother spoke with him on the phone from Gulistan. Rakib had asked his brother to come to Chankharpul.

After 7pm, Rakib left home, picked up his elder brother from Chankharpul, and went to Shaheed Minar. While they were hanging out there, someone called him aside. Then, several individuals together shot and stabbed him to death.

She said, “I cannot say who committed this incident.” However, a week ago, he received a call about advertising a product. They offered Rakib Tk20,000 for the advertisement and asked him to go to Khilgaon. But since they were strangers, Rakib did not agree to go. He asked them to send the product to Chankharpul, which they refused.

Later, Rakib received another similar call, asking him to go to Uttara. Subsequently, an argument ensued between them. During that call, the person on the other end threatened to deal with Rakib later.

Rakib used to create content with Mun before, she said. However, she added, “About a month ago, there was some trouble with the husband of Jannatul Mun, a content creator from Khulna, over a comment on one of Rakib’s videos. A girl had commented on one of Rakib’s videos. Mun had replied to that girl’s comment. Seeing this, Mun’s husband, Sajid, started suspecting Mun. He asked why Mun had replied instead of Rakib or his wife, Habiba. There was ongoing trouble over this. Mun called me and said she wanted to come to our house and asked for the address.”

However, Habiba could not say who was involved in this murder.

Relatives said Rakib and Habiba had gotten married four years ago. Rakib’s mother, Rajia, was heard wailing, “My son, you have reddened Shaheed Minar with your blood. They have snatched my child away from my arms.”

She sobbed, saying Rakib had visited her house in the evening, but left without eating because she had been delayed with her cooking. He never came back.

“I demand justice for my son’s killers,” she said.
