Professor ABM Obaidul Islam, the current Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) and a professor in the Department of Physics at Dhaka University, has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Dhaka University (DU).
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon confirmed the matter during a press conference at the Ministry of Education on Monday.
On 22 February, Niaz Ahmed Khan had resigned from the post of DU vice-chancellor of Dhaka University. The DU Public Relations Office had later confirmed the matter in a press statement.
Niaz Ahmed Khan had been appointed the VC of Dhaka University in August 2024, a few days after the fall of the Awami League government following the student-led mass uprising.
