Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Mamun Ahmed has been appointed as the new chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon made the announcement during a briefing at the Ministry of Education on Monday afternoon.
Earlier, Professor SMA Faiz resigned from the post citing physical illness. He sent his resignation letter to the secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education in the morning.
