Mustafizur Rahman will travel from Chattogram to Pakistan after Bangladesh face New Zealand in the third ODI on Thursday at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, with plans in place for him to join Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. Bangladesh confirmed the move while preparing for the series decider.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has rested Mustafizur for the opening two T20Is against New Zealand. The board has allowed him to complete his PSL commitments in two phases. He has already featured in the tournament earlier in the season before returning for national duty.
Lahore Qalandars signed Mustafizur on a direct contract worth 6.44 million Pakistani rupees. His current clearance allows him to rejoin the PSL from 24 April to 3 May. He has taken six wickets in five matches with an economy rate of 7.17 in this campaign.
Mustafizur remains part of the ODI squad for the final match, but his recent injury has limited his involvement. He has not featured in the first two matches of the series. Bangladesh have included an extra pace option with Tanzim Sakib, which reduces the need to risk him.
Several Bangladesh players have taken part in this season’s PSL. Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana and Tanzid Hasan Tamim have featured for Peshawar Zalmi, while Parvez Hossain Emon has played alongside Mustafizur at Lahore. Rishad Hossain has also represented Rawalpindi this season.
