Police have recovered bodies of a woman and daughter from their house in Anwara upazila of Chattogram.
The deceased were Eni Barua, 40, wife of Sujan Barua, and their daughter Priyanti Barua, 16. Their son, Piyas Barua, 5, was injured and is now receiving treatment, police said.
The incident happened around 11:30pm on Saturday at Chenamati Barua Para in Ward‑6 of Paraikora union.
No case has yet been filed and no arrests made, but efforts are under way to identify and detain those involved, said Anwara Police Station Officer-in-c Md Junayet Chowdhury.
Locals reported hearing screams and rushing to the house, where they found Eni Barua and her son lying injured at the door. Inside, they discovered Priyanti’s body. Eni died on the way to hospital.
Neighbouur Suravi Barua said they saw the mother and son bleeding outside, then found the daughter’s body inside and informed police.
Sujan Barua, husband of Eni, said he was at work in Khatunganj, Chattogram city, at the time. He alleged that neighbour Limon Barua Tejopriyo, with whom he had financial dealings, may have been involved. He claimed his wife mentioned Limon’s name before dying.
Police, however, said Eni had borrowed money from Limon on a three‑month installment plan and had already repaid two months regularly.
OC Junayet said that they sent the bodies for autopsy. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive and arrest those responsible, he added.
