Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited extended the deadline for selling nomination forms on Wednesday, giving election hopefuls extra time ahead of the club’s long-awaited polls. The Election Commission 2026 announced the decision at the club office in Dhaka. Candidates can now collect forms for president and director posts until 4 pm on Friday, 27 February.
The original schedule set Tuesday and Wednesday as the cut-off days. The extension shifts only the nomination sales window and leaves the rest of the election timetable untouched. The commission wants a smoother process as interest builds around the vote.
Mohammedan gears up for its first election in five years, with polling fixed for 9 March. The club last went to the ballot on 6 March 2021. That gap has only raised the stakes.
Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal serves as chief election commissioner. He oversees a process that will decide one president and 16 directors. The electorate includes 368 permanent members and three donor members.
