A mild earthquake was felt across Thakurgaon district on Sunday morning. The tremor occurred at 8:34am.

According to information from Volcano Discovery, a website specialising in volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, the quake measured 3.4 on the Richter scale.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located in Atgharia area, 33 kilometres east of Thakurgaon.

Golam Mostafa, an office assistant at the seismic monitoring centre of the local Meteorological department, confirmed that the 3.4 magnitude earthquake caused mild shaking in various parts of the district.

He further said that the tremor lacked any significant severity.

Residents of Pirganj and Ranisankail, in particular, reported feeling the vibrations the most.
