Police recovered the body of a microbus driver on Monday morning from a fish farm at Magura‑Kaikhalir beel in Satkhira’s Sadar upazila.
The victim was identified as Suman, 35, son of Abdul Hamid of Kaikhali village.
Local Jamaat‑e‑Islami leader Hafez Maulana Monowar Hossain Momin said Suman had been working as a microbus driver for the past four years. He had been on leave for four days due to illness.
His sister Reshma Khatun said Suman left home on Monday night after dinner following a phone call.
The family initially assumed he had gone to watch the World Cup final. At dawn, they found his room empty and his mobile phone switched off.
Soon after, neighbours informed them that a body had been discovered at a fish farm in Daypara village owned by Kesmat Ali.
Masudur Rahman, officer‑in‑charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, said Kesmat Ali found Suman’s body around 6am while switching off the lights at his farm. The victim’s mobile phone and clothes were also recovered nearby.
Suman’s father suspected his son was killed in a planned attack by an organised gang.
The OC confirmed the body was sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, adding that legal proceedings will follow after investigation.
