Metro rail services has started to operate under a special schedule on weekdays from Thursday until the day before Eid-ul-Fitr, to align with office timings during the holy month of Ramadan.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Director (Administration) AKM Khairul Alam signed the notification on Tuesday. It noted that while the schedule for weekdays will be adjusted, the timings for Saturdays, other public holidays, and Fridays will remain unchanged.
According to the new timings, the first train from Uttara North to Motijheel route will depart at 6:30am, and the last train will leave at 9:30pm. From Motijheel to Uttara North route, the first train is scheduled for 7:15am, with the final service departing at 10:10pm.
DMTCL further stated that passengers are permitted to carry a 250ml water bottle within the metro rail and station premises solely for the purpose of drinking water during Iftar. However, passengers must exercise caution to ensure that water does not spill.
Used water bottles must be disposed of in the bins provided at the platforms, concourses, or entry and exit gates. The authorities emphasised that no other food items may be consumed on the platforms, concourses, or inside the metro rail carriage under any circumstances.
