Police recovered the bloodied body of a 60-year-old man from the roadside area of Barishal City on Wednesday evening, in what they suspect to be a murder.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Delwar Hossain Chowdhury, a resident of Uttar Korapur and son of the late Nazir Chowdhury.
According to police sources, locals spotted the body lying inside a betel-leaf field on the northern side of the Basurhat–Kashipur Bazar road in the Badamtala area of Shibpasha village under Raipasha Korapur union.
Police said miscreants likely hacked him with a sharp weapon on the left side of his head and dumped the body at the spot.
On receiving information, Police rushed to the scene, brought the situation under control and began the process of recovering the body. Tension prevailed in the area following the incident.
Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station Mizanur Rahman said police were trying to identify and arrest those involved. The investigation is ongoing and officers are working to uncover the motive behind the killing.
