The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has allowed the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges to resolve disputes between investors and market intermediaries or issuer companies through mediation and arbitration.

The regulator approved the ‘Dhaka Stock Exchange (Settlement of Dispute) Regulations, 2025’ and ‘Chittagong Stock Exchange (Settlement of Dispute) Regulations, 2025’ during its 976th Commission meeting on Tuesday.
After the meeting chaired by BSEC Chairman Khondker Rashed Maqsood, a press statement signed by BSEC spokesperson Md Abul Kalam confirmed the development.

The new regulations aim to replace lengthy and complex legal procedures with a faster, more efficient dispute resolution process through mediation and arbitration.

The regulations will be sent to the respective stock exchanges for implementation, and they will be published in the official government gazette to take effect.

This initiative is expected to significantly expedite the dispute resolution process, offering a quicker and more effective alternative for market participants.

However, market professionals stressed professionalism among the stock exchange officials for the effective outcomes of the liberal regulations.
