The Bangladesh Chess Federation has imposed varying bans on seven individuals, including six local players and one Indian competitor, following an investigation into match-fixing and irregularities during the 9th Century Club Standard Rating Chess Tournament.

The disciplinary measures target players, arbiters, and organizers involved in the competition after a thorough review of the complaints submitted to the federation.

According to an official statement released by the federation, Hadiuzzaman and Indian chess player Shrutarshi Roy have each received a one-year ban. Meanwhile, Jadunath Biswas and Arup Golder were handed six-month suspensions. Additional disciplinary actions were also taken against Netrakanta Sarkar and FM Sharafatul Islam.

The disciplinary committee was chaired by Bangladesh Chess Federation Vice-President and Police DIG Shoaib Riaz Alam. The panel reviewed the evidence before finalizing the punitive measures against those found responsible for compromising tournament integrity.

The federation confirmed that the bans took formal effect on October 12. In its official announcement, the governing body emphasized that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward unsporting behavior and will continue enforcing strict regulatory actions to preserve discipline, transparency, and fairness in future domestic competitions.
