At least 25 people were injured and around 20 residential houses alongside five business establishments were ransacked during intermittent, violent clashes between two rival factions in Kashipur village under Kaliganj municipality of Jhenaidah.
Violent clashes flared up intermittently in Kashipur village from late Monday night until Tuesday afternoon.

Rezaul Islam, an influential local figure facing multiple criminal charges including drug trafficking had been absconding since 5 August. Following the local elections, he and his supporters began returning home triggering a dispute over dominance with local resident Mokhles Hossain, according to local residents and police.
Fuelled by the pre-existing dispute, supporters from both sides locked into clashes on Monday night. The violence erupted again on Tuesday morning with repeated brawls, chases, and counter-chases. On receiving the news, multiple teams from Kaliganj Police Station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

“The situation in the area has been normal since Tuesday afternoon. Police forces have been deployed at the scene. Legal actions will be taken upon receiving formal complaints regarding the clashes and brawls,” Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zulfikar Ali said.
