The Bangladesh Navy has rescued 26 fishermen who had been floating at sea for five days after their engine malfunctioned. The fishermen, stranded in the Bay of Bengal while fishing with a trawler, were located and safely rescued by the Navy.
Lieutenant Commander Siamul Haque, a media officer for the Bangladesh Navy, confirmed the rescue and stated that further details would be provided later.
This operation takes place amidst the 22-day fishing ban imposed by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, starting from 4 October, to protect mother hilsa.
The Navy’s 17 warships are actively patrolling the Bay of Bengal, including the coastal areas of Cox’s Bazar and nine other districts, to enforce the ban.
