Former lawmaker and Lt Gen (retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury was placed on a three‑day remand after being discharged from Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Monirul Islam passed the order on Monday following a petition by DB (Mirpur Division) Sub‑Inspector Kafil Uddin, who had sought seven days’ remand.
State counsel Shamsuddoha Suman confirmed the development.
Defense lawyer Touhidul Islam Sajib opposed the remand, cited Masud Uddin’s health issues, and urged the court to consider his medical condition.
Earlier, on 11 April, the court had granted four days’ remand, but Masud Uddin was hospitalised the next day after falling ill in custody. Following his release from hospital on Monday, police produced him before court with a fresh remand plea.
Masud Uddin, a former Jatiya Party lawmaker, was arrested on 23 March from Dhaka’s Baridhara.
