A man who was critically injured in a gas leakage explosion at his house in the capital’s Uttarkhan area, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.
The victim, identified as Ali Hossain, 55, died around 6:30am while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon at the institute confirmed the death and said Ali had sustained 100 per cent burns on his body. He was being treated in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The explosion took place around 6am on Saturday.
Alongside Ali, his wife Hasna Hena, 45, and their daughter Akhi Akter, 25, were also severely burnt.
According to the victims’ son, Md Tushar, the family resides in the Kachkura Signboard area of Uttarkhan. He explained that the fire was sparked by a cylinder leak in the kitchen during the early hours of Saturday.
Regarding the condition of the other family members, Shawon said that Hasna is currently being treated for 60 per cent burns, while Akhi has sustained 15 per cent burns.
Both remain admitted to the hospital for further treatment.
