The first budget session of the 13th National Parliament begins today (Sunday) at 3 pm.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury will present the proposed budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year in parliament on 11 June.
According to sources, the size of this year’s budget is expected to be Tk9,38,000 crore. The revenue target has been set at Tk6,95,000 crore, of which the National Board of Revenue (NBR) is expected to contribute Tk6,04,000 crore.
The proposed budget will feature a deficit of Tk2,43,000 crore. Meanwhile, the Annual Development Programme (ADP) has been sized at Tk 3,08,925 crore – an increase of Tk1,00,000 crore compared to the previous fiscal year.
