Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain has been appointed as the 18th Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), taking over from Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, according to a press statement.
Previously, he served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7th Infantry Division and Area Commander, Barishal. Commissioned in the Corps of Artillery in 1992.
Major General Moazzem has held several important roles, including commanding two artillery brigades and regiments, and serving as Platoon Commander at the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA), Colonel Staff of a division, and Director of Budget at Army Headquarters.
A graduate of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), he completed the National Defence Course (ndc) and Armed Forces War Course (afwc) at the National Defence College (NDC).
Major General Moazzem also trained at the Nanjing Artillery Academy in China and the School of Artillery in Pakistan. He holds an MPhil from Bangladesh University of Professionals and is currently pursuing a PhD at Dhaka University.
With his vast military experience, Major General Moazzem is set to lead BEPZA towards further growth and development, reads the BEPZA press statement.
