The E-Bailbond – the new bail process for accused individuals – will now be completed entirely online.
The service was launched in Narayanganj on Wednesday, which, according to Law Adviser Asif Nazrul will condense 12 steps into just one click.
Dr Asif Nazrul made the remark while delivering the chief guest’s speech at the inauguration ceremony of the piloting of “E-Bailbond” in Narayanganj, held on the premises of Narayanganj Circuit House today.
Asif Nazrul said, “Narayanganj stands as a symbol of freedom, and that is why it chosen for the introduction of ‘E-Bailbond’.” Consequently, transparency and accountability in the judicial process and speed in citizen services will increase.
“With this, 12 steps have ended with one click. This is a significant step towards fulfilling the goal of building a new Bangladesh.” He added that this initiative marks another important chapter in the digital transformation of the country’s justice system.
Speaking as special guest, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, said, “The government is working to deliver legal services to the people’s doorsteps through technology. E-Bailbond is part of that continuous effort.”
He thanked the Advisor of the Law Ministry and everyone involved, noting that this work was done through a ministerial initiative. He also mentioned that the ICT Division officials developed this software without being vendor-dependent, which he described as a remarkable success.
Faiz Taiyeb also said, “To facilitate widespread use, software could be developed alongside the web application so that Android phone users can also access this facility.” He also mentioned that if cooperation from the ICT Division is sought in this regard, it will be provided.
The event was attended by Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman, senior officials from the Law Ministry, district administration, police administration, lawyers, and representatives from various media.
