Mah Alam of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Razib Rayhan of Protidiner Bangladesh, have been elected president and general secretary respectively of Jahangirnagar University Journalists’ Association (JUJA) for the 2026 session.
The election results were announced at around 2:15 pm on Tuesday by the university’s Botany Department Professor Nahid Akhtar, who served as Chief Election Commissioner.
Election Commissioners Management Department Associate Professor Abu Sayef Md Muntaquimul Bari Chowdhuri and Public Health and Informatics Department Assistant Professor Sahadat Hossain were present during the announcement.
Daily Ittefaq Correspondent Rasel Mahmud was elected vice president, Ajker Patrika Correspondent Mushfiqur Rizwan joint general secretary, Asia Post Correspondent Soikat Islam treasurer, and Naya Diganta Correspondent Ataur Rahman office and publication secretary.
Jagonews24.com Correspondent Rokib Hossain Pranto, Daily Sun Correspondent Faruk Hossain and Dainik Shikkha Correspondent Mehedi Hasan were elected executive members of the committee.
Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Sohel Ahmed and Proctor Professor AKM Rashidul Alam, along with teachers from different departments and leaders of social, cultural and political organisations, observed the election during the voting period.
Voting began at 10am at the JUJA office located at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the campus and continued in a festive atmosphere until 1pm.
